Our Story

In November 2022, Brandon and I met for the first time when we saw each other in our powerlifting gym. He had recently moved from Ohio to Arizona, and we immediately connected over being powerlifters, our sobriety and moving from out of state.

We went on our first date two weeks later and he asked me to be his girlfriend. I have never experienced someone so sure of me or us. He was so sure of us that he asked me to pin him for his pinning ceremony for his new police department where he was transferring. A few weeks later, we took our first vacation together in Sedona. A few months later, we knew we were in love and we moved in together. We got a kitten together, made our house a home together, and my dog Alvin even loved him. We both helped each other prepare for powerlifting competitions, and I took him back home to meet my family. We knew we were each other's person so we began ring shopping! It felt like it was truly meant to be that we both were born and raised thousands of miles away, somehow ending up in Arizona and in each others lives at just the right time.

The proposal happened on September 7, 2023. We were visiting Boston for my best friend’s (Jess) wedding. Brandon had only been to Boston once before when we visited my family for father’s day. After a beautiful dinner in downtown seaport, he asked if I wanted to go walk by the water. As we were walking near the rose garden, he asked the question and all of the sudden I also saw a photographer, then heard my friends and parents also cheering! He had planned a perfect surprise proposal in a completely new city. He used the same photographer that we met at father’s day and had spent weeks coordinating the logistics with Jess, Joy and my family. It was the easiest yes of my life!

We were SO lucky to be able to then pick our marriage date exactly one year later. My mother, Brandon’s mother, and I all travelled to Sedona to look at wedding venues. Sedona was a special place for us - it’s the epitome of Arizona, the place that brought us together. Once we saw L’Auberge we were in love. I was able to take Brandon back to L’Auberge in November, where I showed him the property, and proposed back to him down by Oak Creek. I am so excited to share parts of our story with you and to welcome you all to our beautiful new home state!

Love,
